Breaking down the Arizona Cardinals’ defensive line room

Arizona is going to have an excellent defensive line this next season. AZs young guys really showed out, Robert Nkimdiche was going against starter Lael Collins and Nkimdiche man handled him, he was extremely disruptive consistently penetrating. Now that he is mentally sound and his understands his role in the defense he is playing at a very high level. 6"5 very long/tall DE Olsen Pierre (34.5in long-arms) looked very good to, he to was very disruptive and in the backfield. Against the run Nkimdiche was even better. Arizona will have an excellent run stopping line with a few different guys who really shine against the run like Peters and Mauro for instance, and healthy Rucker also offers a very solid inside pass rushing presence.
I think Arizona will keep Nkimdiche, Olsen Pierre, Josh Mauro, Frostee Rucker, Rodney Gunter, Xavier Williams, Ed Stinson & Corey Peters. Those guys will make for a very good defensive line this year.

BTW, I could not agree more, I to believe Arizona has upgraded at ILB, Safety & Cornerback.
People assume AZ lost a good corner in CB Marcus Cooper, but Cooper wasn't all that good and he DEFINITELY was not worth the 16M he ended up signing for. According to Pro Football Focus Cooper was ranked as one of the worst corners in the NFL w/ an overall grade of 45.3 which is beyond terrible. Keim made the right decision in not signing this guy, as the Bears paying this guy all that money is definitely going to come back and bite them almost assuredly this year, with their piss poor pass rush up front Cooper's putrid coverage skills will be on full display n he will be getting destroyed, ARI's Elite pass rush masked the vast majority of his coverage deficiencies.
AZ will again have one of the NFLs elite top 5 ranked pass defenses. AZ's #2CB will likely be 6"1/200pd CB Justin Bethel who ended last season playing CB at a high level once his foot had fully healed. Now healthy Bethel will be an a very solid avg to above avg #2CB. Bethel has been playing at a very high level thru training camp as well going against AZ's loaded WR Core, Having one of the leagues best elite pass rushing front 7s up front will greatly help Bethel as well. AZ also signed 6ft/195pd CB Tramon Williams who has graded out as a far above-avg to elite CB every year of his career except last year when he was injured all year struggling with a few different injuries all season, the first time he had been injured in his career. Even in a down-year though, Williams grade of 68.3 was much higher than Cooper's 45.3 grade.
Now fully healthy I think CB Tramon Williams will be much better than last season & play more to the level he did in 2015 when he had a very high PFF grade of 82.8 overall. Williams could beat out Bethel, those two will bring out the best in each other and whoever starts will be more than ready.
AZ's overall pass defense is loaded with Elite to far above-avg talent & will be a top 5 secondary again w/ the best pure cover corner in the game in Elite All-Pro 6"2/203pd #1CB Patrick Peterson, 6"1/200pd Justin Bethel will likely be the #2CB. At safety AZ is loaded w/ one of the top safety corps in the NFL with Elite All-Pro 5"10/202pd FS/CB Tyrann Mathieu back to All-Pro form playing at an elite caliber level. Mathieu also plays Slot-CB, Him and Peterson take away erasing 2 of the opponents top WRs from the stat sheet. AZ drafted one of the top 3 safety in the draft who had a 1st rd grade in 5"10/200pd S/CB Budda Baker, who is a beast on the field and can play at an extremely high level out of the box (as a FS, SS and Slot CB) which he showed the other night, Baker will quickly become a Pro-Bowl caliber player mark my words. AZ brought in 5"11/209pd FS/SS Antoine Bethea this off-season as well who is still playing at a extremely high level to boot, Bethea will likely take over Jefferson's old role as a run stopping hitter down in the Box. 6"1/210pd FS/SS Tyvon Branch who excels in pass defense will play in a rotational role.
Overall though Arizona's pass defense is still loaded with talent & Arizona will have one of the top pass rushing front 7s up front again which massively helps the secondary out. The only loss that really hurt AZ was the loss of Calais Campbell, but even the loss of Campbell won't hurt the defense to bad as 1st round pick DE Robert Nkimdiche is developing into the pass rushing terror Keim thought he drafted and is playing at a high level, as is pass rushing DE Olsen Pierre. Those two will greatly cover up for the loss of Campbell's pass rushing ability, and AZ also has a handful of other excellent 3-4DEs who will play leading roles as well, the D-Line will be just fine.

Stinson isn't great but he is solid against the run & provides starter quality depth along the line, which makes me think AZ might decide to stash him, esp since they are paying him next to nothing.
