Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon backed offensive coordinator Drew Petzing’s play calling in Arizona’s 16-15 loss against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
“I thought the best game he called this year was this one,” Gannon told Arizona Sports’ Burns & Gambo on Monday.

The Cardinals are coming off a loss where the offense was outgained 355-260 despite the team having the ball for over 34 minutes compared to the 49ers’ 25 minutes.
Through three games, the Cardinals are 19th in the NFL in points (20.7) and 25th in yards (276.3) per game.
Gannon added that while he is confident in the offensive play calling, the offense collectively needs to improve going forward.
“There are definitely some issues with our offense. Our run game is not efficient enough. The pass game needs to generate some more efficiency and a couple more explosive (plays). Each game is going to present different challenges by what they’re doing and their people that they have and the game flow,” Gannon said.
“There’s no doubt we need to play a little bit better to score more points. With the play calling, I know what we’re doing. I know what we’re calling and how we are doing things. We got to do it better and it starts with me.”
The Cardinals return to State Farm Stadium to face the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday. Kick-off is at 5:15 p.m.

Very concerning comment by Gannon…….what game was he watching?? It’s now clear Gannon and Petzing have their sights set on those Participation Tophies at the end of the year.
If McBride was to ever go down we would not win 1 game. That statement there is why we really need to re-evaluate not only Kyler, but Petzing and whole offense.
