Cardinals cash in touchdown to Marvin Harrison Jr. after McBride hurdle vs. Jets

The Cardinals strung together drive after drive against the New York Jets on Sunday to give Arizona a 24-6 lead at the half, with tight end Trey McBride fueling one with a hurdle before a Marvin Harrison Jr. touchdown grab.

It was the tight end’s third hurdle of the season and his second of four catches for 71 yards on the day.

“Elite play. You saw our sideline when he made it,” head coach Jonathan Gannon said postgame. “I thought that was a good job by (quarterback Kyler Murray) because the ball wasn’t really supposed to go to him on the first read (then) he reset his feet and went through his progressions and threw it to him. It was a good job by them. They were playing tight man-to-man coverage, but (when) you’re one-on-one with the guy, you have to get him down on the ground and he is hard to get on the ground.”

Murray took a tough blindside sack shortly after, knocking his helmet off clean. He would weather the hit to keep the drive chugging and post very dominant numbers for the half.

Murray was 17 of 19 with 199 yards and a touchdown passing and rushing in the first half. The passing game was key as the run game was getting just 3.4 yards per carry to that point.

His passing touchdown went to Harrison, who caught a fade route which the two have struggled to connect on for much of the season.
