Cardinals’ Jeremiyah Love his ‘true self’ on the football field and giving back

PHOENIX — Finding that perfect profession is hard to come by.

That is, unless you’re Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love, who truly comes into his own once he steps between the white lines.

“I would say on the field, that’s more of my true self,” Love said during the launch of his “All You Need Is Love campaign with New Balance on Friday. “I’m a little bit crazy. I like to hit people and play football. Off the field, I’m more chill. I don’t get to do that type of aggressive stuff, so it’s very easy for me. That’s just my true self.”

“I love football, I love hitting people and stuff like that, so I’m excited to get on the field, make some spectacular plays, hurdle somebody — if they allow me to,” he added. “I’m just excited to play football, score some tuds (touchdowns) and win some games.”

The passion and want-to is clearly there for Love when it comes to football.

But there’s another side of Love that shone through even more during Friday’s New Balance event honoring the running back and his 4Love Foundation.

He may be in the thick of it when it comes to preparing for training camp and the season ahead following a whirlwind offseason filled with NFL Draft prep, but that hasn’t stopped Love’s camp from giving back.

The foundation’s mission statement is to “empower communities through education, membership and opportunity.” A recent example of that was when the foundation handed out athletic gear to St. Charles High School in Missouri.

While Love couldn’t be in attendance, he still managed to sit down virtually with the students. For him, a big reason why he plays football is to inspire others.

His biggest message? Be yourself.
