Cardinals mailbag: Fans are making their frustrations heard
Arizona fans and their frustrations over a lack of team success take centerstage in this week's Arizona Sports Cardinals mailbag.
Watch: Bickley Blast: Michael Bidwill needs to attack the root issues dragging down the Arizona Cardinals | 8 mins
If last week’s Arizona Sports Cardinals mailbag wasn’t hot seat-focused enough, this one has even more fuel involved.
Fans are upset five weeks into the season, only adding onto the already built-up disdain of consistently rolling out a losing product in Arizona.
And they are letting their voices be heard in ways I haven’t seen since I started fully covering the team in 2021.

More on that and other burning Cardinals questions in this week’s mailbag:
Cardinals Week 6 mailbag
BeckSZN: How do you feel about the #BidwillOut movement?
TD: This was a common question asked by many of you this week.
Let me start with this: The Red Sea is raging right now.
Whether it be through petitions or Thursday’s billboard additions urging owner Michael Bidwill to sell, fans aren’t backing down about how they feel in 2026.
This is also bringing a lot of Cardinals fans together in what has otherwise been a dismal season. Camaraderie through misery.
The passion is applaudable. Being invested in a product that isn’t living up to the standard should make you upset. I’ve lived a Sacramento Kings nightmare my whole life outside of a few seasons. I get it! Losing consistently is not fun!
But as far as what the end game looks like, I just don’t see Bidwill selling a franchise that has been in his family through generations.
That’s just not going to happen.
That doesn’t mean the message isn’t getting across, though.
Just because ownership might not change, doesn’t mean other parts of the franchise can’t.
Team president is a hot topic. Does this added pressure make Bidwill relinquish his duties to someone else?
What about general manager Monti Ossenfort? I know people are going beyond his tenure, but it’s clear something has to change in Arizona’s front office.
Will these moves fully quench this fanbase’s thirst for change? No. But it would at least be something.
The same goes for winning.
Bryan: If you could add two of any former Cardinals players to this current team — one on each side of the ball — in their prime (excluding quarterback and Fitzgerald) who would you add and why?
TD: This was a fun one to think about!
Defensively, it’s a tough one between Patrick Peterson and Chandler Jones.
Jones could instantly help solve Arizona’s struggling pass rush. Can you imagine Jones and Josh Sweat on opposite ends?
Just about any offense would be nervous with that pairing wrecking things off the edge.
More attention on him could also free up guys like Walter Nolen III to get home and avoid double teams.
But then there’s P2.
On top of having a lockdown ball-hawking cornerback, which would be huge at the moment given Will Johnson’s injury, Peterson gives you a scoring threat as a return man, too.
I think where this team currently stands, give me Jones by a razor thin margin.
Offensively, I’m rolling with offensive lineman Dan Dierdorf.
We all know the team could use some help along the line. The Hall of Famer could be an answer just about anywhere on the line.
D.J. Humphries stood out as a more recent name here, too. And his press conferences and locker room scrums were must-watch.
Anything to beef up Arizona’s trenches.
JarJarBinx: When is Carson Beck starting?
TD: I’m sticking with Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Hopefully he’s at least active before then…

Sam: Why is defensive coordinator Nick Rallis still employed?
TD: Good question.
I’ll play devil’s advocate here.
While I think a change is needed there (and other spots along the roster), how much more is an interim going to get out of this current unit?
Teryl Austin is the clear heir apparent in this situation. That doesn’t mean he is going to just pour some magic elixir on the pass rush and things will instantly change.
Getting a new voice in there at this point is key. Rallis’ defensive track record of giving up boatloads of points speaks for itself.
Another embarrassing blowout could and should be the final straw, which could come as early as this week against Los Angeles.

Gee I know let’s hire a 20 something year old, who’s barely old enough to rent a car, as the NEW Defensive Coordinator! What could go wrong??
This is such a Brilliant idea, especially since he’s so immersed in the game!
He’s coaching the D on the field when at work, then playing the game on Madden when at home!!
SMH
A Kid is supposed to be a leader of Men?? Somewhere Vance Joseph is laughing his A off
The Cards have sunk so so deep!
