The Baltimore Ravens are finalizing a deal to acquire Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett in a trade that will be completed this weekend, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Baltimore plays Thursday against Jacksonville, and the deal is not expected to be completed by then.

Terms of what Arizona will receive in exchange have not been reported.

The Ravens have put two-time MVP Lamar Jackson on injured reserve, while trusted backup Tyler Huntley is dealing with suspected turf toe.

Even their third-stringer, undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano, is a question mark for this week due to an ankle injury, leading the Ravens to bring in former UFL quarterback Austin Reed and ex-Arizona Cardinals backup Kedon Slovis just to get through this week.

Arizona on Sunday benched Brissett, and head coach Mike LaFleur named Gardner Minshew the replacement entering Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Rookie Carson Beck was promoted Monday to the backup role after going eight weeks without playing a snap.

The Cardinals started Brissett for the first eight games of the season, but late in the third quarter of a win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, LaFleur made a change.

Brissett made 20 starts across the last two seasons for Arizona and negotiated a new contract as he entered 2026 as the projected starter, earning him a guaranteed $15.5 million.

He went 1-11 last season in games he started in 2025 and 2-5 this season before he was benched Sunday.

Brissett completed 63.3% of his passes for 1,719 yards and 10 touchdowns to seven interceptions this season. One of the biggest knocks on Brissett this year was his inability to push the ball down the field.

He now heads elsewhere after totaling 5,085 yards and 33 touchdowns to 15 interceptions on 64.3% passing across two seasons.

Jacoby Brissett’s Cardinals tenure ends in a trade

Brissett entered the offseason as the projected Week 1 starter after taking over for former Cardinals QB Kyler Murray in 2025. In 12 games under Brissett, the offense moved the ball down the field at a much higher clip despite a struggling offensive line and nearly nonexistent run game.

Despite not having a full season of work, Brissett still finished last year tied for 14th in touchdowns (23), seventh in yards per game (240.4) and 14th in total yards (3,366).

A lot of those numbers went in the direction of tight end Trey McBride and wide receiver Michael Wilson, who each turned in career seasons with Brissett under center.

Good news: We get more draft capital. Bad news: Our GM sucks at drafting. Case in point? Wasting what was essentially a late 2nd rounder on Carson Beck, a mediocre QB who will never be anything more than a backup while there were All-Pros at other positions still on the board.

More than anything, the decision to give Jacoby $10 million simply because he was holding out says everything you need to know about this franchise. Instead of standing firm and having a plan, they gave in. This is yet another example of the poor decision-making that continues to plague the Cardinals organization!

Let's wait and see to Beck STARTS and actual NFL game before riding him off.

Not saying he is the next Dan Marino, but also not saying he is Dan Aykroyd in an NFL Uniform
