GLENDALE — The Arizona Cardinals won’t have one of their top cornerbacks in Max Melton this week against the Denver Broncos.
The cornerback was a limited participant to start the week of practice before missing the next two days of work. He was officially questionable for the matchup.
Melton has taken noticeable steps forward this season. He’s recorded four passes defensed and 21 tackles in six starts.
With him sidelined, Arizona will lean more on Denzel Burke, Kei’Trel Clark, Kalen King and Starling Thomas V.
Denver is also up against it in the secondary, with Patrick Surtain II out this week with an ankle issue.
Cardinals’ Budda Baker active vs. Broncos
While Melton is sidelined, safety Budda Baker is good to go after dealing with a groin issue and illness this week.
Baker paces all Cardinals in sacks with 3.5.
Defensive lineman Darius Robinson is also active after popping up on the injury report this week with a back issue. He was limited the final two days of practice.
Having both Backer and Robinson in the mix is good news for a Cardinals defense that is without Walter Nolen III and Andrew Wingard this week.
