Cardinals to start Carson Beck for Hall of Fame game vs. Panthers

GLENDALE — The Arizona Cardinals will turn to rookie quarterback Carson Beck to start Thursday’s Hall of Fame game against the Carolina Panthers.

The news of Beck getting the rock comes after it was reported that Kenny Pickett would start for Carolina when the two sides meet in Canton, Ohio.

Beck has continued to make progress this camp after struggling out of the gates.

Since the pads have come on, the third-round pick has looked much more comfortable, with Sunday’s work some of his best all camp.

His red-zone strike to wide receiver Xavier Weaver, who might have more TDs on the side of the field than just about anyone else this camp, was among Beck’s standout throws on the day. Same with his deep dot to Weaver while on the run.

Monday was a roller coaster showing, though Beck still found the end zone on multiple occasions.

There’s still plenty of things to nail down for the rookie, and preseason action should help in his development.
