Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Carson Beck will miss Thursday’s preseason game at the Las Vegas Raiders due to a rib injury that is not considered serious, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported.

Beck practiced all week through soreness but Arizona will hold him out of the game as a precaution, Rapoport added.

Jacoby Brissett had already been announced as Arizona’s starter for Thursday’s game after he did not appear in last week’s Hall of Fame game.

Beck missing the contest is a letdown following his impressive showing in the Hall of Fame game, as well as because it will deprive fans of a rematch of the College Football Playoff title game against then-Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, whom the Raiders selected first overall in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Brissett is among many expected starters who will be getting their first preseason action for the Cardinals after sitting out the Hall of Fame game, while it will be the first preseason game for Las Vegas.

Hear the game on 98.7 and the Arizona Sports app beginning at 5 p.m. MST.

Lets be honest here. The org is trying to slow the Carson Beck hype train by sitting him out to take pressure off Jacoby. If Beck played well tonight the scream would become deafening.

Instead, the losing pos org is trying to support their back up QB that won one single game last season, held out in a big FU to the new coach, and is a reportedly a nice guy.

Carson is fine, this is solely manipulating momentum to support a career loser that they stupidly paid.

I had the same first thought..... DB was probably slobbering this morning (I say probably because I cannot watch him on video) over the prospect of Beck making another great showing.
