Cardinals elevate 2 players to active roster ahead of matchup vs. Falcons

The Arizona Cardinals made two roster moves on Saturday, including elevating cornerback Jaden Davis and wide receiver Steven Sims to the active roster from the practice squad.

Davis was originally selected by the Cardinals in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft with the 226th overall selection out of Miami but is yet to appear in an NFL game.

He was waived by the Cardinals on Aug. 27, 2024 and re-signed to the practice squad.

Davis then signed a reserve/future contract with the Cardinals on Jan. 6, but suffered a knee injury in training camp and was placed on injured reserve on July 27 before he was waived on Aug. 1.

On Oct. 1, he was re-signed to the practice squad before he was released on Oct. 30 and re-signed to the practice squad again on Nov. 12.

Davis played four seasons at Oklahoma before wrapping up his college career with the Hurricanes in 2023.

In 13 games played as a Hurricane, Davis tallied 42 tackles, three of which were for losses, one sack, four passes defensed and two forced fumbles.

The Cardinals signed Sims, a veteran wide receiver and return man, to the practice squad earlier this month.

Sims, 28, has played 53 NFL games since making his debut in 2019 with Washington. He has since spent time with Pittsburgh, Houston and Baltimore.

Sims primarily played on special teams last season as a kick and punt returner in nine games between the Texans and Ravens. He averaged 27.9 yards per kick return on seven attempts, and 5.8 yards per punt return on 21 attempts.

He has 78 career receptions for 704 yards and five touchdowns.
