Arizona Cardinals running back Emari Demercado is likely to miss his team’s home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday with a high ankle sprain suffered last week, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Cardinals (3-7) will lean more heavily on Bam Knight and Michael Carter if Demercado is indeed absent.

Last week, in a 41-22 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Demarcado had five carries for eight yards. He had two catches for 12 more yards.

He exited in the second quarter and tested the injury out on the sidelines but never reentered the game.

Knight (five carries, 24 yards) and Carter (two carries, six yards) were lightly utilized on the ground as Arizona tried to play from behind. The Cardinals threw the ball 57 times to 14 runs, and the backs were heavily involved.

Carter had five catches for 22 yards, while Knight added four catches for 21 yards.
