Arizona Cardinals cornerback Garrett Williams was helped to the locker late in the fourth quarter against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Williams and Cardinals safety Budda Baker collided on a touchdown reception from Carolina’s Hunter Renfrow, on a slant thrown by quarterback Bryce Young.

Both Williams and Baker stayed down, with Williams appearing to writhe on the ground in the end zone.

Baker was up shortly after.

Head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters postgame that Williams suffered a knee injury and could not return.

The Cardinals previously lost cornerback Max Melton for the rest of the game after he was carted to the locker room with a knee injury he sustained in the first quarter. Will Johnson suffered a groin injury and did not play the final series, either.

Arizona entered the season having experienced adversity in the cornerbacks room, as Starling Thomas V and Sean Murphy-Bunting both suffered season-ending injuries before Week 1.

Williams collected seven tackles and a pass defensed before going down on Sunday.
