Report: Cardinals signing former top-10 pick Jedrick Wills Jr. after Paris Johnson Jr. injury

The Arizona Cardinals are signing offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. off the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo first reported on Tuesday.

Wills was the No. 10 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns and will provide depth with Cardinals left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. suffering a season-ending biceps tear on Sunday.

Arizona head coach Mike LaFleur said on Monday that rookie Jayden Williams will start for Johnson this week.

Wills played 58 games with 57 starts over five seasons with the Browns, but he has not taken a regular-season snap since 2024. Knee issues limited him in 2023 and 2024, and he took a year to heal up.

The 6-foot-4 lineman has since spent time on the practice squads of the Chicago Bears and the Bills.

Wills, 27, previously earned Second Team All-American honors at Alabama in 2019. There were mock drafts at the time which linked Wills to the Cardinals, who decided to draft Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons with the No. 8 pick.

Arizona officially placed Johnson on injured reserve on Tuesday among a series of roster moves.

The Cardinals also put tight end Hunter Long on IR (knee); promoted tight end Teagan Quitoriano from the practice squad; signed tight end Kenny Yeboah, offensive lineman Austin Deculus and safety Mark Perry to the practice squad and released cornerback D’Shawn Jamison and offensive lineman Vershon Lee from the practice squad.

Arizona returns home this week to host the Detroit Lions on Sunday at State Farm Stadium.
