The Washington Commanders signed quarterback Jeff Driskel off the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad roster on Monday.

The move puts him behind Josh Johnson on the depth chart and the potential No. 2 quarterback with Marcus Mariota dealing with a hand injury. Washington has already shut down starter Jayden Daniels for the rest of the year with an elbow injury.

Driskel’s departure from Arizona leaves the Cardinals with no third quarterback. Jacoby Brissett and Kedon Slovis are the 1-2 in the pecking order and were the active quarterbacks for the loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

The 32-year-old Driskel entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick in 2016 and has 25 games (12 starts) of experience between stints in San Francisco, Cincinnati, Detroit, Denver, Houston, Arizona, Cleveland, Washington and Las Vegas.

Driskel last started a game at the end of the 2023 season for the Browns, when he completed 50% of his throws for 166 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

He had a stint with Washington in the offseason before he joined the Las Vegas Raiders for a month at the start of this season. He signed with the Cardinals Nov. 6.
