The Arizona Cardinals have been in contact with John Harbaugh over the team’s head-coaching vacancy, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Schefter adds Harbaugh has “been conducting preliminary and extensive phone calls” with the Cardinals, New York Giants, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns and Las Vegas Raiders.

The news of Arizona’s interest in Harbaugh comes after the Atlanta Falcons announced they had met with the former Baltimore Ravens head coach for their opening.

Harbaugh was relieved of duties this offseason after 18 seasons in Baltimore which culminated into 12 trips to the postseason, a Super Bowl win and a 180-113 record.

The former Ravens coach is at the top of the list of head-coaching prospects this hiring cycle.

Before the latest on Harbaugh, Arizona was already linked to 10 head-coaching candidates, including San Francisco defensive coordinator Robert Saleh and Seattle offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.

Most recently, Los Angeles Rams coordinators Chris Shula and Mike LaFleur have been connected to the vacancy.

Arizona is looking for its next head coach after firing Jonathan Gannon following his third season on the job. Gannon went 15-36 during his Cardinals tenure.

I'm calling BS!
Phone call: Ring Ring, hello this is John Harbaugh. Hi John, this is Michael Bidwill with the Arizona Cardinals.
How are you Mike? Not doing well John. As you know we are one of the worst franchise teams in NFL history, and the future doesn't look any better right now. 3 teams in our conference have totally rebuilt and reloaded for years to come and we are still deciding if we should have free coca cola products in our locker room.
That said John, would you been interested in becoming the HC for the Cardinals? John..., John..., John are you there?

"Monti" call the HC at NorthWestern and tell him that we will increase our offer to $4M for 10 years.

We can dream, but Harbaugh taking the Cardinals' call feels a little like a reverse Rooney Rule.
