Cardinals nab Oregon pass rusher Jordan Burch with No. 78 pick in 2025 NFL Draft

TEMPE — The Arizona Cardinals selected Oregon pass rusher Jordan Burch with the No. 78 pick (third round) in the 2025 NFL Draft on Friday.

Burch is coming off his second and final season at Oregon where he registered career highs in sacks (8.5), tackles for loss (11) and passes defensed (six).

Before his two seasons at Oregon, Burch spent three seasons at South Carolina.

“Size, length, power, ability to collapse the pocket,” general manager Monti Ossenfort Friday night. “He was productive, got dinged up with some injuries this year, but was productive in the games he played. … Brings a unique skillset for a guy who’s his size and length to be able to play on his feet and play out on the edge of the line of scrimmage.”

Burch marks the latest addition to the outside linebackers room for Arizona following the outside signing of pass rusher Josh Sweat this offseason.

Arizona didn’t stop there in revamping the defensive front, either, bringing in veteran defensive tackles Dalvin Tomlinson and Calais Campbell on top of selecting Ole Miss product Walter Nolen III in the first round of the draft.

Arizona also re-signed Baron Browning, who is expected to have a prominent role within the rotation.

Jordan Burch helps round out Cardinals OLBs room

Aside from Sweat and Browning, the Cardinals OLBs room features Zaven Collins, BJ Ojulari and Xavier Thomas.

Collins paced the Cardinals with five sacks last year after inking a two-year contract extension last training camp.

Fellow pass rushers Dennis Gardeck and Jesse Luketa followed behind Collins with three apiece, though neither re-signed with the franchise this offseason.

Ojulari was projected to slide in as one of Arizona’s starting pass rushers his sophomore season but went down with a season-ending knee injury during camp.

Thomas on the other hand flashed during the preseason, but didn’t see consistent playing time as a depth piece. He registered 2.5 sacks as a rookie.
