Kaleb Proctor helped by Darius Robinson during NFL transition: ‘He makes it comfortable’

As Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Kaleb Proctor prepares for his rookie season, he credits teammate Darius Robinson with helping his transition to the NFL go smoothly, at least in the early stages.

Proctor told Arizona Sports’ Wolf & Luke on Thursday that Robinson has been like a mentor to him and the team’s rookies, and hearing his experiences of entering the league has helped him with the transition.

“He is very outgoing. He makes it comfortable for guys like me because there’s no tension, there’s no awkwardness,” Proctor said. “It’s just football and him being a human, and he’s laughing and talking all the time, and bringing me right along.”

Drafted with the No. 104 pick in the 2026 NFL draft out of Southeastern Louisiana, Proctor joins a defensive line headlined by two young players in third-year pro Robinson and second-year pro Walter Nolen III.

Robinson said Thursday that it’s been strange being looked at like a veteran on the team, but he’s happy to provide advice to some of the younger players.

“Sharing experiences about what I thought in that situation and just being open so whenever they go into a certain situation they don’t make the same mistake that I did,” Robinson told Wolf & Luke.

“That’s how Calais (Campbell) was with me last year. We would talk so much about different scenarios and things that would happen, so when this situation finally popped up in a game, I didn’t have to learn from my mistake; I learned from Calais’ or someone else’s. For me, just sharing that same information with them, so that everybody can play faster.”

Proctor has made it a point to stay on top of things in his rookie year, even in areas as small as making sure the snack list is right.

Proctor said Thursday he has made it a point to make sure the team’s snack list is filled out in an effort to avoid a costly dinner bill.

“If you slack off with the snacks, the dinner bill is gonna be hefty. So, yeah, I’m gonna stay on top of my P’s and Q’s,” Proctor said.
