Kyler Murray falls just outside of top 10 QBs in recent ESPN poll

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was voted outside of the NFL’s top 10 quarterbacks in Jeremy Fowler’s executive poll for ESPN.
Murray was listed first in the “others receiving votes” category, following C.J. Stroud and Jordan Love, who were listed in the honorable mention category outside of the top 10.
The votes and rankings were decided by league executives, coaches and scouts. The rankings were also determined by interviews of those surveyed and additional research from ESPN’s NFL analyst Matt Bowen.
Murray’s 2024 season was his first full year back under center after an ACL tear cut his 2022 campaign short and forced him out of action for the first half of the 2023 season. Murray played in a combined 17 games in 2022 and 2023.
Murray had a solid statistical season last year, posting 3,851 passing yards, 26 total touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a completion percentage of 68.8%. With Murray back at the helm for the entirety of the season, the Cardinals were able to show signs of improvement and double their win total from 2023, going 8-9 in 2024.
Murray’s ACL injury didn’t seem to affect the threat he poses with his legs, as he totaled 572 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns — his best rushing season since 2020.
His quarterback rating was also ranked ninth in the league out of all NFL quarterbacks at 66.5, narrowly behind three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes, who was ranked eighth with a QBR of 67.6.
Murray was also ranked 15th on PFF’s quarterback rankings heading into 2025.
Murray is set to rejoin the Cardinals in less than two weeks for the start of training camp as he enters his seventh year in the league.

I think the real stars for this list are the QBs who performed without the crutch of a top 10 defense including Allen, Burrow, Daniels, Stafford and Baker. You feel really bad for Burrow who put up MVP numbers only for his team to go 9-8 and miss the playoffs b/c the defense was atrocious.
Came up a little, short????
Personally I'd take a great defense over an exciting offense any day. Just like great pitching staffs, they travel well, less dependent on the weather, and generally don't have "off days" meaning you are given a change EVERY game to win. Offenses can't claim that IMO.
