Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray expressed optimism he can return on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers after missing two games due to a hamstring injury.

“I do. I do. I feel good,” he told reporters Wednesday.

Murray has remained questionable on the injury reports against the Los Angeles Rams two games back and the San Francisco 49ers this week.

He said that his pregame work on the field Monday in Mexico City was his first real test.

“It was one of those things where, like, that was probably the first time I really kind of opened up a little to that speed,” he said. “It was just a process type of thing. Didn’t really get the reps during the week, also had to see how the hammy felt, how I felt.”

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters earlier on Wednesday that Murray looked good during a walk-through practice for the entire team. Kingsbury has said he wanted Murray to be able to run at or close to full speed in order to see the field.

“We’ll run test him (before making a decision),” Kingsbury said. “He looked good today. I feel good about the chances. I think if we didn’t let him (play this week), we’d have a fistfight in my office at this point. I feel like he’s definitely trending in the right direction.”

Colt McCoy replaced Murray as the starting quarterback the last two weeks.

McCoy went 26 of 37 with one touchdown as Arizona beat Los Angeles 27-17. The backup completed 24 of 34 passes in a 38-10 loss to the Niners on Monday.

Murray has completed 67% of his passes for 12 touchdowns and six interceptions this year.

He’s added 359 rushing yards (6.1 yards per carry) and two scores.
