Cardinals QB Kyler Murray inactive for Monday Night Football

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is officially inactive for his team’s Monday Night Football game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Murray entered Monday night as questionable due to a foot injury suffered in a Week 5 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Even before Murray’s status update, the quarterback was not going to be Arizona’s starting quarterback against Dallas.

Based on the quarterback’s week of practice, head coach Jonathan Gannon announced Saturday that Jacoby Brissett would make his third start in as many games for the Cardinals.

Gannon, however, left the door open for Murray to still have “a role” for the primetime tilt and wanted to see what the next 48 hours brought.

“Looking at the week of work today, Kyler is not going to be ready to start the game, so Jacoby will start. Obviously, feel good about Jacoby. I do want to give it the next couple days to see if Kyler could possibly have a role on game day,” the head coach said.

Monday marks Murray’s third game missed due to the foot injury.

Joining Murray on the shelf include cornerback Elijah Jones, pass rusher Xavier Thomas, offensive linemen Demontrey Jacobs and Josh Fryar and defensive lineman Bilal Nichols.

For the Cowboys, safeties Donovan Wilson and Alijah Clark, running back Jaydon Blue, defensive lineman Mazi Smith, offensive linemen Ajani Cornelius and Hakeem Adeniji and wide receiver Jonathan Mingo are inactive.

Will Johnson active for Cardinals-Cowboys

While Murray is on the shelf for Monday night, rookie cornerback Will Johnson is officially active for the matchup.

Johnson entered Monday as questionable with a groin issue after getting limited work during the final two days of practice.

Rookies Walter Nolen III and Kitan Crawford and cornerback Garrett Williams are also good to go.
