Former Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald is dipping into a heavier media workload.

The New York Post’s Andrew Marchand reported Wednesday that Fitzgerald is joining ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown” crew for five to seven pregame shows leading into “Monday Night Football” this season.

Fitzgerald, who confirmed his new gig, will debut this coming Monday for the Broncos-Seahawks game that serves as quarterback Russell Wilson’s debut with his new team and return to his former home.

The Post reports that Fitzgerald’s role will mirror that of former NFL quarterback Alex Smith’s last year. Fitzgerald will take reps after the show lost former receiver Randy Moss, who is being shifted from ESPN’s pregame coverage on Monday nights to Sunday nights.

The former Cardinals receiver and future Hall of Famer will join a crew that also includes Steve Young, Adam Schefter, Robert Griffin III, Suzy Kolber, Booger McFarland and Smith.

Fitzgerald last played in 2020, his 17th NFL season. He is a projected first-ballot Hall of Famer with the second-most career receiving yards (17,492) and receiving touchdowns (1,432) in NFL history, all of which were contributed to the Cardinals.

While he never officially announced a retirement, Fitzgerald has hinted that his playing days are in the past.

However, he has remained in the spotlight, be it while golfing in the local WM Phoenix Open Pro-Am, speaking on his podcast “Let’s go!” or joining ESPN programming such as the ManningCast live game stream with Peyton and Eli Manning.

Fitzgerald is also an executive chair on the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee for this upcoming season.
