Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.’s time with the franchise is officially over.
Pending Harrison’s physical, the Cardinals are trading the 2024 No. 4 overall pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick to the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2027 second- and seventh-round pick.
It’s a slightly different deal than what was originally reported Sunday afternoon, with Arizona sending a sixth-rounder instead of a seventh-round pick. The Cardinals also get back a seventh-rounder instead of a sixth-round pick.
Harrison now reunites with former Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud.
The trade chatter surrounding Harrison kicked up another notch these past two weeks as he continued to be an afterthought in the offense.
He added to the talk by hiring a pair of agents who helped facilitate his exit in Arizona.
Then came Saturday, when ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the team was finalizing a Harrison trade. He added the wide receiver would be inactive for Arizona’s game against the Detroit Lions and the deal would be completed after Sunday’s slate of games.
The Texans were quickly linked as the team to watch in the Harrison sweepstakes.
By Sunday afternoon, the trade was all but official.
Now, both sides get a much-needed fresh start.
For the Cardinals, that means continuing to lean on tight end Trey McBride and wide receiver Michael Wilson while finding someone to fill Harrison’s role the rest of the way.
For Harrison, it’s a chance to reset his NFL career and make good on the expectations that he could properly follow in his father’s footsteps.
He’s got another year on his rookie deal plus a fifth-year option to prove it after three seasons of 108 catches on 202 targets for 1,578 yards and 13 scores in 33 career games (30 starts).

They traded MHJ for 'nothing'! How about a DL or OL? Unless the Cardinals get a new GM, the draft picks are useless given the success of Monti's previous draft picks.
First, I knew that MHJ was going to be traded. Why? He hired two agents...he won't have hired them at this point of the season since there were no contract talks.
Second, Wilson got a big contract extension.
Third, how Arizona Sports talking heads were talking about trading him after a few games.
Fourth, how Coach Mike LaFleur avoided talking about him in interviews when asked why he wasn't a target and etc.
I can't see how any one could NOT be surprised with this trade.
Unlike the Dbacks who made it no secret that they were shopping KM in last year off-season which took away their leverage, one must give credit to the Cardinals in trying to play it close to their chest. When I heard Monti's statement, I said BS and MHJ is going to be traded before the deadline.
So, again, an Arizona sports franchise officer lies to the fans of the team and the community as a whole. Ossenputz ought to be run out of town tout-de-suite. So damned sick of these clowns disrespecting the fans.
Why in the hell is your sports team here if you can't respect the bloody fans to begin with by leveling with them about your in-house dysfunction?
I'm also looking at you DBacks officers, too. You are all disingenuous twerps not worthy of the rent-seeking sports franchises you run.
