Cardinals’ Michael Wilson not letting potential extension dictate his offseason
While Michael Wilson's breakout year will continue to loom in his brain until training camp, a potential contract extension is a different story.

TEMPE — Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson didn’t beat around the bush when asked if he had moved on from his breakout Year 3.
“I’m not over it yet,” he said Monday.
Posting 1,006 yards and seven touchdowns on 78 catches — most of that coming across the final 12 games of the year with quarterback Jacoby Brissett at the helm — last year’s accomplishments are going to hang in Wilson’s brain until players report for training camp in late July.
That will happen after Wilson recorded close to those numbers across his first two seasons combined (85 catches for 1,113 yards and seven scores).
But as for a potential contract extension coming down the wire now that Wilson is eligible for that kind of pay bump? That’s another story.
“Truthfully, that whole situation isn’t going to dictate my offseason. That’s not something that I want to show up to the building with on my mind,” Wilson said. “I don’t want that to affect how I show up every single day, because ultimately that stuff is going to take care of itself.
“What I did last year, I can’t change. That’s my resume. That’s what we’re going off of. But as soon as Week 1 starts … that stuff doesn’t matter. What I did last year doesn’t matter. So, I need to do what I need to make sure I’m taking care of what I can.”
Heading into the final year of his rookie contract, Wilson has a base salary of $3.9 million, according to OverTheCap.
For a guy who took over the reins of WR1 last year and also brings a solid off-the-field foundation, getting a deal done in 2026 seems like the logical next move for the franchise.

Arizona would be wise to get a deal done now and I think they will before the summer is over. Sign him now and get a bit of a discount before he really blows up this next season and commands top of the market wr1 money which absolutely will happen with a 80+ reception/1100+yd 7-10td season which in all likelihood are numbers he hits comfortably as a key piece to this offense . AZ could have three thousand yard pass catchers which would be crazy .
Time will tell with Wilson, eh? As to Allen, you're right about how Gannon should have been told to make it work with him.
AZ won’t let him go Bidwill is a lot of things but one thing he does is pay his talent who earn it, they’ll keep n pay Wilson.
Only reason Zach Allen was let go which was a huge outlier to start with no the norm is because Gannon didn’t want him because he didn’t fit Gannons system which was a huge mistake they should of made Gannon make it work even though I’m not sure Allen is worth the amount he’s making in Denver.
