New Arizona Cardinals uniforms ‘on the radar,’ Bidwill says

Arizona Cardinals fans have been ready for a uniform change for awhile now, but the traditionalist decision-makers have kept the team’s jerseys consistent for well over a decade.

Save for limited-use color rush alternates, the Cardinals’ look hasn’t changed much since arriving in the Valley, even when the NFL moved from Reebok to Nike in 2012.

The last major redesign, if you don’t count the brand swap, happened in 2005.

Change, however, could be on the horizon.

Arizona Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill was asked by Arizona Sports’ Bickley & Marotta if a redesign could be in the future.

“We look at all these things. You probably know, these things, there’s a timeline for them. It takes time,” Bidwill said Friday. “Among the array of things we look at around the team, it’s on the radar.

“We’re going to honor tradition at the same time. It’s part of the array of things we look at. It’s on the radar screen.”

While that may not give any more detail — other than an admission that the franchise’s long history will be intact with any changes — it’s surely a refreshing thing to hear for Cardinals fans.

After all, many have been wanting new threads for some time — some to the point of rolling out fan-designed concepts.
