Fresh off his retirement and mending fences with the Arizona Cardinals’ franchise and fan base, former cornerback Patrick Peterson has another item on the to-do list:

Re-establishing his relationship with franchise quarterback Kyler Murray.

“There is no relationship there, but there will be,” Peterson told Up & Adams on Tuesday. “I know I was a little bit outspoken when I did say certain things. I was kind of in the wrong.

“But at the end of the day, I know that I’m a man and he’s a man and I definitely want to make that better. Because at the end of day, that was just talk out of frustration. That could have been something that me and him could have been able to talk about.”

Patrick Peterson’s criticism of Kyler Murray well-documented

Peterson’s admission of being in the wrong goes back to his criticisms of Murray while on the cornerback’s All Things Covered podcast in 2022.

Talking with his co-host Bryant McFadden about the signal caller’s comments on a singular play being “schematically (expletive),” the then-Vikings cornerback went in on Murray.

“I don’t like how he’s doing that, I think he should do it privately — but it tells me he doesn’t care about his head coach,” McFadden said.

“Kyler Murray doesn’t care about nobody but Kyler Murray,” Peterson responded. “That’s just the matter of fact.”

Murray responded soon after, saying the comments were untrue and that his former teammate should not “drag” him publicly for the sake of the podcast.

Peterson tried clarifying his comments while speaking with reporters after the podcast aired but only added to his criticisms of Murray, calling his mannerisms “alarming.”

“He’ll tell you, I left a note in his locker when I left just telling him how the team is going to be as successful as he leads them to,” Peterson told Adams. “I just saw some things from afar that I’d had seen in the locker room and that’s just where that came from.”

Patrick Peterson ‘100%’ sees a different Kyler Murray?

As for what Peterson thinks of Murray’s growth since his public critiques of the Cardinals QB?

“He has been doing a much better job of his body language, his leadership and it’s just going to continue to make that team that much better because they follow his every move. He just has to understand that,” the cornerback added.
