The Arizona Cardinals signed former New England Patriots offensive tackle Demontrey Jacobs to the practice squad on Thursday.

The 6-foot-6, 315-pound lineman was released by the Patriots during initial 53-man roster cuts on Tuesday.

Jacobs started 13 of 15 games played at right tackle for New England in his lone season with the team last year.

He recorded 90% of the available offensive snaps (867) and 13% (49) on special teams.

Jacobs entered the league as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Denver Broncos in 2023. He spent the season on the practice squad before his release in 2024.

With the reported addition of Jacobs, the Cardinals now have 14 players signed to the practice squad.

The Cardinals still have two regular practice sqaud roster spots to fill and could have another with the International Player Pathway Program exemption.

The team had filled that spot for years with Austrian tight end Bernhard Seikovits.

A look at Arizona’s current practice squad roster:

– Offensive lineman Demontrey Jacobs
– Wide receiver Andre Baccellia
– Linebacker Elliott Brown
– Offensive lineman Jeremiah Byers
– Running back Michael Carter
– Offensive lineman Jake Curhan
– Tight end Josiah Deguara
– Wide receiver Simi Fehoko
– Defensive lineman Anthony Goodlow
– Cornerback Darren Hall
– Offensive lineman Sincere Haynesworth
– Offensive lineman Nick Leverett
– Wide receiver Tejhaun Palmer
– Defensive lineman Elijah Simmons

Demontrey Jacobs Wasn’t good at RT but given he’s precisely what this regime covets in linemen 6”6-330lbs 36in long arms w/massive 11in hands built to be a straight forward run blocking MAULER.
I am wondering if AZ wants to develop him inside but with all the depth we have inside in Hernandez, Gaines, Jones, Connor, Josh Fryar it seems they may really want to develop him at RT allowing for athletic powerful people mover 6”6-325lb (35.5in lg arms) to kick inside to OG where w/ his elite power above avg athleticism could excel inside at RG and cross train Jones both at G/RT. Christian Jones is good enough to be a starting RT w/ a bit more development by next year so they’re likely just prepping n developing Jacobs to eventually be the backup once Jones takes over at RT and they’ll probably draft another guy as competition
