The Arizona Cardinals have signed quarterback Kedon Slovis to their active roster ahead of Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts with starter Kyler Murray listed as questionable.

Slovis had signed to the Cardinals practice squad before the 2025 season opener at the New Orleans Saints and was on the Houston Texans practice squad for the entire 2024 NFL season.

The Scottsdale and USC product provides Arizona with additional depth behind Jacoby Brissett, who is the presumed starter if Murray is unable to go.

Punter Blake Gillikin, who was ruled out earlier on Saturday with a back injury, was placed on injured reserve, the team announced. Once on injured reserve, a player must sit out for at least the next four weeks. In a corresponding move, Arizona signed free agent punter Pat O’Donnell.

Rounding out the latest roster moves less than 24 hours before Week 6 kickoff, Arizona elevated defensive linemen Zach Carter and Anthony Goodlow with Bilal Nichols (personal) ruled out as a late addition to the injury report.

Carter and Goodlow were elevated to the active roster for the second straight week, as the former recorded two tackles and forced fumble in a loss to the Titans and the latter has registered three tackles (one solo) in two games this season.

The move makes sense, as does any move that keeps Kyler off the field. The Cardinals should just put Kyler on IR for his ouchie and make Slovis the permanent backup. Once he gets enough reps, I would love to see what Slovis can do.

The Cardinals simply have not met expectations during the Kyler Murray era.

We all Deep down know this season is toast. They are not making the playoffs and probably win 6 maybe 7 games anyway . So the KM experience is over in my book , let someone else give it a sho , what's the worst that can happen , they lose games in the worst way possible ? Oh wait........
