Cardinals’ Travis Vokolek carted off with neck injury vs. Colts

Arizona Cardinals tight end Travis Vokolek was carted off the field in the first quarter of Sunday’s 31-27 loss to the Indianapolis Colts with a neck injury and did not return.

According to the Cardinals, the tight end was released from a local hospital and rejoined the team after the game.

On the ensuing kickoff of the Colts’ game-opening touchdown drive, Vokolek went down as he was making a block.

He was quickly treated by trainers before being placed on a stretcher and carted off.

Heading into the matchup, Vokolek appeared in four games (one start) and recorded two tackles.

The third-year tight end was expected to see more snaps this week and beyond with Tip Reiman out for the rest of the year with an ankle injury.

With Vokolek sidelined, the Cardinals are glaringly thin at tight end. Trey McBride and Elijah Higgins represent the remaining healthy options in the room.

Offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum and Jon Gaines II saw more snaps in Vokolek’s absence.

Aside from Vokolek’s injury, the Cardinals also watched wide receiver Michael Wilson pick up a finger issue late in the first quarter.

After making a five-yard catch near the goal line, Wilson was seen heading to the locker room with a towel over his hand.

He returned to action, finishing with four catches for 44 yards.

Marvin Harrison Jr. also left Sunday’s loss with a concussion suffered in the second quarter. He had two catches for 32 yards.

Running back Emari Demercado left with an ankle injury and did not return. The running back had one carry for one yard.
