Cardinals’ Trey McBride leads TE Pro Bowl fan vote, 4 others in positional top 10

Despite a struggling Arizona Cardinals team around him, Trey McBride has been a bright spot and fans are taking notice.

The league leader in receptions found himself as the top tight end in the fan vote as of the first returns released by the NFL on Monday.

With the Cardinals suffering injuries to their first-string quarterback, running back and wide receiver during the season, McBride has been one of the only offensive pieces to see the field every week.

He’s delivered, currently leading all tight ends in receptions (first among all NFL players), receiving yards (sixth), receiving touchdowns (t-third) and receiving first downs (fifth) while not having a single fumble.

Pro Bowl voting opened on Nov. 27 and will remain open to fans until Dec. 15. Fans can vote for up to six players per position with no daily limit on the number of ballots a fan can submit.

The Pro Bowl roster will be decided through a combination of the fan vote and a vote by the players and coaches.

Last season was McBride’s first Pro Bowl selection after he hauled in 111 receptions for 1,146 yards. He was one of two Cardinals selected along with strong safety Budda Baker.

The other Cardinals that are top 10 in fan voting so far at their positions are Josh Sweat (outside linebacker, fifth), Paris Johnson Jr. (tackle, eighth), Calais Campbell (defensive tackle, fifth) and Greg Dortch (return specialist, sixth).
