The Ringer’s McShay thinks Trinidad Chambliss could be in play for the Cardinals next April

Despite Jacoby Brissett leading the Arizona Cardinals to an impressive Week 1 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers, he’s likely not the long-term quarterback solution.
The Cardinals are still expected to finish with one of the worst records in the NFL, and they’ll likely be linked to guys like Arch Manning, Dante Moore and others by season’s end.
The Ringer’s Todd McShay believes that Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss would be the best fit in Mike LaFleur’s offense. McShay has him going to the Cardinals in his latest mock draft.
It’s a hot take — and a reach — if you ask others. Chambliss is not rated as a top five quarterback in the class, according to an anonymous poll of 25 NFL scouts.
McShay argues that despite Chambliss’s lack of height at 6 feet, his arm strength, football IQ and ability to perform in pressured moments more than make up for it.
Jacoby Brissett is off to a strong start, and Carson Beck showed promise in camp, but Chambliss is different—and he would excel in Mike LaFleur’s offense. Chambliss lacks ideal height, but he compensates for that with a quick mind, an explosive release, a strong arm, and a fearless playing style. He can attack tight windows from the pocket and becomes especially dangerous when improvising outside of it. Learning to take something off the football when necessary will be the next step in his development, but there’s no other quarterback in this class with Chambliss’s combination of talent, charisma, and big-game chops.
In 2025, Chambliss threw for 3,937 yards (third-most in the nation) and 22 touchdowns, with just three interceptions. He led the Rebels to a 12-2 record and to the College Football Playoff semifinals, finishing eighth in Heisman voting.
So far in 2026, Chambliss has thrown for 561 yards, five touchdowns and one interception over the course of two games.
Chambliss, however, will be 25 years old by the time he throws a pass in the NFL.
He’s currently older than the Cardinals’ third-round pick, Carson Beck, who could have a say in the Cardinals’ quarterback decision-making by the end of this season.

Nope. We've seen enough of an under-sized yet talented QB.
