Rams draft Alabama QB Ty Simpson at No. 13
The Los Angeles Rams drafted Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

TEMPE — The Los Angeles Rams drafted Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Simpson heads over to Los Angeles after making 15 starts last year for the Crimson Tide. He completed 64.5% of his throws for 3,567 yards and 28 touchdowns (all career marks) to five interceptions.
The 6-foot-1, 211-pound signal caller was heavily linked to the Cardinals prior to draft night. Simpson met with Arizona at the NFL Draft Combine and on a top 30 visit.
Before last year’s run, Simpson appeared in 16 games as a backup at Alabama.
He now joins a quarterbacks room that’s spearheaded by veteran Matthew Stafford, and he’ll get a couple of years, at least, to sit behind Stafford and learn.
Los Angeles also has former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Stetson Bennett IV on its roster.
With Simpson off the board, that leaves Miami’s Carson Beck, LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier and Penn State’s Drew Allar as the top options remaining for the Cardinals.
Arizona released former franchise quarterback Kyler Murray, who went on to sign with the Minnesota Vikings, and inked Gardner Minshew to a reported backup role behind Jacoby Brissett this offseason.
Brissett, however, is reportedly asking to be paid as the Cardinals’ starter and is not attending the team’s voluntary offseason program.
Kedon Slovis rounds out the room.

Ty Simpson is over-rated! Only 6’-0” tall. The Rams saved the Cardinals from being dumb!
Personally, I want to thank the Rams from the bottom of my heart for taking Ty "The Stick" Simpson, who is still a stick, but he's got a much better chance of sticking under the tutelage of Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford.
I assume that Arizona will grab an OT with the 34 pick. Looking at the OTs currently on the Roster, I wonder if the coaching staff has made a decision whether either Josh Fryer or Chrstian Jonas could improve enough to be a starter. IDK enough about either of them.
I was just looking at the OTs remaining in this Draft of Quality who might be able to start. I stopped counting at 12. In addition there are over a dozen Free Agent Tackles. With No. 34, I expect Arizona to go grab one. For the rest of the draft, I'm in favor of going best player available. As it always seems every year, the teams that can find help with their picks in
While I would have preferred taking Bain to shore up a Defensive Line that could really use help, I will do my best to root for Love to prove me wrong. With Simpson going so early, it makes me think that Nussmeier will be grabbed by a team other than Arizona before Arizona picks again at 65, although I will hold out hope of being proven wrong. I would really like it if just like the Rams did with Simpson, if other teams spent Draft Capital on Drew Allar and Carson Beck so that Arizona wouldn't make the mistake of spending theirs on them.
Goes to show how the draft experts really aren’t very profound at being an expert. nobody has this kid going in the first round yet there he was with the 13th pick…
