Tyrann Mathieu’s release isn’t going over well with Cardinals fans

No matter how you analyze Tyrann Mathieu’s career or his 2017 season, there’s no doubting this: He was a fan favorite in the Valley.

So when the Arizona Cardinals announced Wednesday that the defensive back was being waived following a failed contract restructuring, members of the BirdGang let their feelings be known.

In short, they aren’t happy.

Especially not after Arizona reportedly decided to take a justified risk to pay often-injured quarterback Sam Bradford $20 million ($15 million guaranteed) for one season.

Regardless of the money freed up by the team waiving Mathieu, who would have been the fourth most expensive player under contract for 2018, Arizona fans posted their disappointment, shock and anger after the decision that general manager Steve Keim called “part of the business.”

Meanwhile, fans of other NFL teams — and NFL players themselves — began wondering where the Honey Badger could land.
