Cardinals wide receiver Simi Fehoko named the ‘NFC Special Teams Player of the Week’

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Simi Fehoko was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week Wednesday for his play in Sunday’s win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Fehoko blocked a punt with 12:28 remaining in the fourth quarter to give the Cardinals a 1st-and-goal at the 3-yard line. The blocked punt set up a touchdown to give Arizona a 23-14 lead in their eventual 26-14 victory.

This is Fehoko’s first-career Player of the Week award.

He becomes the first Cardinals non-kicker or punter to win Special Teams Player of the Week in 11 seasons, which dates back to David Johnson winning it in Week 2 of the 2015 season.

Fehoko is also the first Cardinal to win Special Teams Player of the Week since Blake Gillikin in 2024 (Week 9) — and the first former Stanford non-kicker or punter to earn the recognition in 15 seasons (Doug Baldwin, 2011).
