The Arizona Cardinals are re-signing wide receiver Zay Jones to a one-year deal, confirms Arizona Sports.

According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, who first reported the agreement, the deal is worth $4.4 million.

A free agent addition last May, Jones appeared in 11 games (two starts) for the Cardinals after serving a five-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

Once back on the active roster, Jones recorded 84 receiving yards on eight catches (11 targets).

After entering training camp in the mix for the No. 2 wide receiver role alongside Michael Wilson, Jones’ production didn’t match the potential many saw in the addition upon his signing last year.

Jones rejoins a receiver room led by Marvin Harrison Jr. and Wilson but lacked a clear-cut No. 3 option last year with slot man Greg Dortch and Jones each playing fewer than 40% of the available snaps.

Cardinals WR Zay Jones’ NFL resume

Before signing on with the Cardinals in 2024, Jones spent two seasons in Jacksonville. He recorded 116 catches for 1,144 yards and seven touchdowns across 25 games (22 starts) across that span.

Jones entered the league as a second-round pick (No. 37 overall) with the Buffalo Bills in 2017.

He played two seasons for the Bills before being dealt to the then-Oakland Raiders in a 2019 midseason trade.

Jones’ stint with the Raiders lasted 43 games across three years.

Cardinals staying busy this NFL free agency

The Cardinals haven’t stood pat early into this free agency period.

They made a big swing with the addition of premium pass rusher Josh Sweat, who rejoins forces with head coach Jonathan Gannon after their time together in Philadelphia. Arizona also signed inside linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither.

Along with Jones, Arizona has re-upped with tackle Kelvin Beachum, guard Evan Brown, edge Baron Browning, long snapper Aaron Brewer and safety Joey Blount.

Almost assured that this is just a depth signing..

He’s got a good catch radius, and runs good routes.. He only saw 11 Targets, but had 8 Receptions.. He’s about to be 29 in 2023 had almost 900 Yards for Jax.. Not horrible for depth

Cheers!

Definitely jacked for getting Sweat.. And also quite pleased with the Akeem Davis signing..

Dude put up 82 Tackles, 4 PDs, 4 TFls, 1 FF and 1 Fr, playing just 45% of the snaps.. And is now going into his prime with his 2nd contract in tow..

I’ve got a very good feeling on this move..

But yea bro!!! We need more!!!

My initial must have it list was this, in order:
Edge, DL, MLB, WR, LG, CB

Ok so we’ve answered a little with Sweat and Davis.. Though there are still lots of good players available for the trenches and other needs..

I wouldn’t be opposed to an Amari Cooper or Kupp.. SB winning LG Becton is available.. Joey Bosa, Leonard Floyd, and Jaire can be had as well..

It’s definitely clear to me, that Monti “won’t” make a deal, unless “all” his boxes are checked, and yes that’s a good thing.. Though you also gotta sometimes recognize that there will be misses.. Perfect example is MHJ.. This kid NEEDS a vet who’s a consummate pro, to help show him the way.. Cause that 2nd year breakout must occur..And every now and then you gotta roll the dice.. Even if not every box is perfect..Players with their backs to the wall on leaving the game, will quite often surprise.

Bro- I would truly consider bringing CC back for his final year.. He’s still quite capable.. 5 Sks, 5 PDs, 12 TFLs, 12 QB hits and 50 tackles, in just a little over 50% of the snaps..

I’m a very happy camper if we learn that Kupp, Jaire, and CC were gotteN to wrap up this offseason!

Just think of a D left to right
BJ, CC, D Rob, Sweat
Wilson, Davis, Barnes
Williams, Baker, Jalen, Jaire

This D ain’t letting Carolina drop 36 on us, no way!
