Jaxson Dart could be out for the season; Giants face Cardinals in Week 4

New York Giants starting quarterback Jaxson Dart could miss the rest of the 2026 season due to a knee injury he sustained Monday night, according to multiple reports.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter and The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero added that the Giants are determining whether Dart requires surgery, which would end his season.

“Evaluations are ongoing,” head coach John Harbaugh told reporters. “We haven’t got any final decisions yet … we’ve learned a lot more. I wouldn’t want to share too much until decisions get made.”

That makes Dart unlikely to be available in two weeks, when the Giants host the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 4.

Jameis Winston replaced Dart after the starter suffered a knee injury on a bang-bang play as he was sandwiched between two Los Angeles Rams tacklers, Byron Young and Josaiah Stewart. 

ESPN’s Ian Rapoport reported after the game that the Giants believed Dart had suffered a sprained MCL.

Fast forward to Tuesday after Dart’s MRI, and the injury is now worse than anticipated, with season-ending knee surgery on the table.

Dart was coming off an impressive Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys, throwing for 230 yards and three touchdowns with no turnovers.

Winston threw for 111 yards and an interception, completing 11 of 27 passes after replacing Dart.
