D-backs’ lineup for NLDS Game 3 vs. Dodgers mirrors Wild Card order

Oct 9, 2017, 1:32 PM | Updated: 1:42 pm

The Arizona Diamondbacks will go with what worked before, tabbing the same lineup for Game 3 of the NLDS against the Los Angeles Dodgers as they did in their last home game, an NL Wild Card win over the Rockies last Wednesday.

Here’s the batting order that the D-backs will roll out Monday.

Left fielder David Peralta will lead off against Dodgers starting pitcher Yu Darvish, who in nine games with Los Angeles this year went 4-3 with a 3.44 ERA.

Shortstop Ketel Marte will return to the two-hole five days after he recorded two triples in Arizona’s 11-8 Wild Card win last week. Since, he went 3-for-8 against the Dodgers in Los Angeles with an RBI off a solo home run.

A.J. Pollock had hit in the second spot in the two losses to open the NLDS in Los Angeles.

The heart of the order will be the standard of first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, right fielder J.D. Martinez and third baseman Jake Lamb, in that order. They will be followed by center fielder Pollock, second baseman Daniel Descalso, catcher Jeff Mathis and pitcher Zack Greinke.

Darvish has limited at-bats against most of the D-backs having been with the AL’s Texas Rangers up until the trade deadline.

He has, however, done well against Martinez, striking the slugger out in six of 11 career at-bats. Martinez has two hits, including a home run, along with a walk against the right-hander.

Goldschmidt has struck out in all six of his at-bats against Darvish.
