Coyotes’ Brendan Perlini scores two goals in less than 20 seconds

Feb 15, 2018, 8:25 PM

The Arizona Coyotes are playing some of their best hockey of the season, currently on a two-game winning streak.

That could very well reach three games after the start of the second period Brendan Perlini had against the Montreal Canadiens Thursday night.

After Derek Stepan’s drive to the net resulted in a blocked shot early in the second period, he stuck with the play behind the net. A clever drop-off pass found Clayton Keller, and the 19-year-old whizzed a pass right to the slot, where Perlini was all alone.

His one-time effort got past Carey Price to give Arizona a 2-0 lead less than a minute into the second period.

Only 19 seconds later, Perlini got on the board again.

Just after replays of his first effort played, the first rush down the ice was Perlini in a potential 1-on-1 situation.

Receiving a great pass from Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Perlini only had a Montreal defender with him at the center line.

Perlini used his speed to blow by the defender and have a breakaway against Price, and he scored again.

That made it 16 goals on the season for Perlini.

A win Thursday would give the Coyotes their second three-game winning streak of the season. They have yet to win four in a row this season.
