The Arizona Cardinals announced Monday they had claimed one defensive end off waivers and released another, adding Ifeadi Odenigbo and letting go of Jacquies Smith.
Odenigbo, 24, comes over off waivers from the Cleveland Browns.
The Northwestern alumnus was a seventh-round draft pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2017. He has never made an NFL appearance during the regular season. He went to the Browns on waivers on Sept. 2, but finds himself on yet another team as the Cardinals make a roster move for their front seven.
Odenigbo was a first-team All-Big 10 selection as a senior in 2016 after leading the conference with 10 sacks.
Smith, 28, has played three games for the Cardinals, all in 2018. He recorded one assisted tackle.
The undrafted Missouri product has 34 games of NFL experience (18 starts) under his belt with Tampa Bay, Detroit and Arizona. In that time, he has had three passes defensed, four forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, 13.5 sacks and 41 tackles.
