The Arizona Cardinals have placed starting left tackle D.J. Humphries on injured reserve with a knee issue and signed right tackle Joe Barksdale, the team announced Wednesday.
Arizona additionally signed offensive lineman Rees Odhiambo off the Indianapolis Colts practice squad.
On the practice squad, the Cardinals inked receiver Malachi Dupre, offensive lineman Denver Kirkland and defensive tackle Pasoni Tasini.
Humphries’ season ends on the IR due to a knee injury for the second year in a row. He has missed the last three games, and rookie Korey Cunningham has filled in.
The former Charger Barksdale was released by Los Angeles on Monday before signing with Arizona. The eighth-year lineman joined with the Chargers on a one-year deal in 2015 before signing a four-year extension worth $22 million in 2016.
He started a total of 43 games while with the Chargers.
Before his time with the Chargers, Barksdale played for the Oakland Raiders and the then-St. Louis Rams.
The 29-year-old suffered a knee injury earlier in the season and lost the starting job to by Sam Tevi. In February, Barksdale made it known he had been dealing with depression.
The move to sign Barksdale was needed as offensive line woes continue for the Cardinals. Starting Sunday against the Detroit Lions, Arizona will finish the season without any of its projected starting offensive linemen as of the start of training camp.
Before the regular season started, the team lost starting center A.Q. Shipley to an ACL injury. On Monday, the team placed Mike Iupati on the injured reserve with an MCL injury. Iupati now joins Shipley, John Wetzel, Jeremy Vujnovich and Justin Pugh on the IR. Arizona also released starting right tackle Andre Smith after inking him as a free agent last offseason.
