Sun Devil Stadium is comfortably wedged next to Hayden Butte giving the stadium a distinct, scenic landscape.
Against Colorado on Saturday, Arizona State will honor the mountain with a topographic outline of Hayden Butte painted into the natural endzone.
Echo from the buttes. It’s in our fight song, and the buttes help create one of the most scenic settings in football. #GoDevils pic.twitter.com/vUYjrxbX6K

The art shows the elevation levels of the neighboring mountain along with contour lines to show the features of the mountain’s terrain.
Photos were posted on Twitter by Sun Devil Stadium groundskeeper Brian Johnson who said the artwork was, “Guaranteed to be the first of it’s kind in football.”
The topographic contour lines are outlined in maroon and cross through a maroon spelling of “Arizona State,” while the background is filled in with ASU’s secondary color, gold.
