The Ohio State Buckeyes and Clemson Tigers were chosen as the teams to play in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl on Dec. 28 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale with the winner heading to the College Football Championship game.
It’s Ohio State’s eighth appearance in the bowl and Clemson’s second.
The two clashed in 2016 with Clemson blasting Ohio State 31-0.
The undefeated Buckeyes avoided a upset to Wisconsin Saturday night in the Big 10 Championship Game with a second half comeback, scoring 27 points while holding Wisconsin scoreless in the final 30 minutes to win 34-21.
Ohio State did hold the No.1 position in the College Football Playoff rankings going into Selection Saturday, but was dropped down to No. 2 in favor of the Louisiana State Tigers who rolled over No. 4 Georgia 37-10 in the SEC Championship game.
Clemson also comes into the contest undefeated and really wasn’t challenged all season long, beating each team by at least 14 points with the exception of a nail-biting, one-point win against UNC in September.
The Tigers beat Virginia 62-17 in the ACC Championship game on Saturday.
Oklahoma will take on LSU in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Dec. 28 to determine the other opponent in the College Football Playoff Championship Game.
The start time is TBA.
