Phoenix Rising FC has signed former Colorado Springs midfielder Jordan Schweitzer for the 2020 season pending league and federation approval, the club announced on Tuesday.

Schweitzer, 25, is Phoenix’s sixth signing since Dec. 3, following the signings of left back Owusu-Ansah Kontor, forward Santi Moar, right back Darnell King, and midfielders Jack Barmby and Jon Bakero.

Per club policy, the terms and details of the contract were not disclosed.

“I’m excited to be a part of this championship-caliber club and to help build on the foundation that has already been established here in Arizona,” Schweitzer said in a press release.

“To have the opportunity to work with this group of players and staff day in and day out is what every player hopes for and I can’t wait to get going.”

Schweitzer spent the last two seasons with fellow USL Championship side Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, where he scored one goal and notched five assists in 67 appearances (5,954 minutes). In 2019, the midfielder led Switchbacks with 1,488 passes and finished with the team’s third-best passing percentage at 83.1%.

Schweitzer also had one goal and one assist in 24 matches (1,701 minutes) in his lone year with USL Championship side Orlando City B in 2017.

The 25-year-old was a homegrown player signing with MLS side Seattle Sounders in January of 2016.

Schweitzer spent his rookie campaign with Sounders 2, where he amassed two assists and was third on the team in goals scored with a tally of four.

The midfielder becomes the club’s 18th signing ahead of the 2020 campaign.
