Arizona State basketball has landed a commitment for the second day in a row as Luther Muhammad has agreed to join the Sun Devils.
The 6-foot-4 guard from Ohio State entered the transfer portal on April 5 and comes to ASU a day after prized recruit Josh Christopher announced his commitment to the Sun Devils on Monday night.
Muhammad, though, will have to sit out a year unless he’s granted a transfer waiver by the NCAA.
The Newark, New Jersey, native was a sophomore this past season and averaged 7.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 25.0 minutes per game. 247Sports’ director of recruiting Evan Daniels reported Monday that Muhammad was weighing a list of five schools that also included Seton Hall, UCLA, West Virginia and New Mexico.
The Sun Devils themselves have had a departure of players this offseason with Remy Martin and Romello White declaring for the draft, Rob Edwards and Mickey Mitchell graduating and Andre Allen, Khalid Thomas and Elias Valtonen transferring.
Muhammad joins Portland State’s Holland Woods as transfers to commit to Arizona State this offseason. Marcus Bagley and the aforementioned Christopher are the commitments to the Sun Devils out of the high school ranks.
