The Arizona State Sun Devils will participate in the 2021 Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.
Rothstein said Michigan State, UConn, Syracuse, Auburn, VCU and Loyola-Chicago are also slated to be in the tournament. A final team is to-be-determined.
The eight-team tournament takes place on Paradise Island in the Bahamas on Thanksgiving weekend. ASU’s rival, Arizona, took part in the 2017 iteration of the event, which has taken place since 2011.
The Sun Devils are coached by Bobby Hurley, whose brother Dan is the head coach of UConn — meaning the brothers could face one another in the Battle 4 Atlantis if all the stars align.
The 2020 Battle 4 Atlantis is set to include Duke, Creighton, Memphis, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Utah, West Virginia and Wichita State. Of course, it isn’t clear whether the coronavirus pandemic will subside sufficiently before that tournament is scheduled to be played.
The Battle 4 Atlantis also has a women’s tournament.
