The Arizona Diamondbacks are placing left-handed reliever Andrew Chafin on the 10-day injured list due to a left finger sprain.
Taking Chafin’s place on the active roster will be reliever Matt Grace.
Chafin, 30, is the longest-tenured reliever on the D-backs. He’s been pitching for Arizona since 2014, transitioning to a relief role in 2015, making 334 appearances since.
This season, Chafin has struggled, allowing six earned runs in 6.2 innings over 11 appearances for an 8.10 ERA.
Grace did not make the D-backs’ original active roster at the start of the season. Signed as a free agent in November, Grace has a 4.29 ERA over 178 games the past five seasons. He has been at the D-backs’ alternate training site.
