The Arizona Cardinals have cut cornerback B.W. Webb, according to multiple reports, less than a week after he signed with the team.

Webb signed a one-year deal with Arizona last Friday. That same day, the Cardinals signed cornerback Ken Crawley. A third corner, Dre Kirkpatrick, signed the next day.

In Webb’s absence, Kirkpatrick and Patrick Peterson are likely to be the starting corners. That would allow second-year pro Byron Murphy to remain in the slot, and cornerback Jace Whittaker has been strong in camp so far as he vies for a backup role.

Webb, 30, has 80 games of NFL experience and has played for the Cowboys, Steelers, Titans, Saints, Giants and Bengals, all for one season each. Last year, with Cincinnati, the Virginia native started 12 games and played 15, making 37 tackles with seven passes defensed and an interception.

Kirkpatrick and Crawley still give the Cardinals new-found depth at the cornerback position after presumed starter Robert Alford went down with a pectoral injury.

Alford joined the Cardinals last offseason but has yet to appear in a game for Arizona because he’s been injured. He missed all of 2019 with a leg injury. The Cardinals placed Alford on injured reserve on Saturday.

Alford, 31, has played six seasons in the NFL before missing last year.
