The Arizona Cardinals re-signed offensive lineman Rick Leonard to the practice squad and activated running back D.J. Foster and tight end Justin Johnson from the practice squad injured reserve Tuesday.
Additionally, the team released safeties Kentrell Brice and T.J. Ward and cornerback Jalen Davis from the practice squad.
Ward was signed for added depth at safety after the team was hit with a handful of injuries.
It could signal good news for safety Jalen Thompson, who is eligible to return to the 53-man roster after being placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury suffered in Week 1.
Leonard rejoins the Cardinals practice squad after getting released on Oct. 1. The lineman also spent time on Arizona’s practice squad as a rookie in 2018.
The 6-foot-7, 311-pounder spent all of last season on the Houston Texans’ practice squad. He was with the Texans in training camp this year before getting cut on Sept. 5.
Leonard entered the league with the New Orleans Saints as a fourth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Foster was placed on the practice squad injure reserve with a hamstring injury on Sept. 21. He’s played two games this season after beginning the year on the practice squad.
An ankle injury forced Johnson to the practice squad injured reserve list on Sept. 24. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound tight end entered the league with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted rookie free agent.
Johnson spent his rookie season on injured reserve with an Achilles injury he sustained in training camp.
