The Arizona Wildcats’ home game against the University of Texas-El Paso on Sunday has been canceled due to a positive COVID-19 case within UTEP’s program.
The University of Arizona made the announcement Friday night in a press release.
The Wildcats also had the season opener against Northern Arizona University on Wednesday canceled after a Lumberjack player tested positive for the virus.
Arizona is looking to replace the UTEP game, according to the release, though no game announcements have been made as of Saturday morning.
“This news is very disappointing to the student-athletes, coaches and fans,” the school said in the release. “However, health and safety must remain our top priorities as we move forward this season.”
Arizona’s next game is the team’s conference opener against Colorado, which is scheduled to tip off in Tucson at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Wildcats won their only game of the season, 74-55, over Grambling on Friday evening.
