The Coyotes will host a limited number of fans for their season opener on Jan. 14 against the San Jose Sharks and Arizona’s other five home games in the month, the team announced Wednesday.

Following a recent approval from the City of Glendale that allows 25% capacity, a maximum of 3,450 fans will be allowed for all six home games in January.

“The health and safety of our fans, players, coaches, and staff has been our top priority throughout this process and we are looking forward to beginning the season with a limited capacity of seating for our fans,” Coyotes president and CEO Xavier Gutierrez said in a press release Wednesday. “We have been working diligently with the City of Glendale, state and federal authorities, medical experts and the NHL to ensure that we have a safe environment at Gila River Arena.

“We are confident that the innovative and tech-enabled services we have in place will protect the health and safety of our fans. We are excited about the upcoming NHL season and are ready to welcome our great fans back!”

Season ticket holders will have first priority based on seniority. Seating will be in pods.

The Coyotes added that they will work with both Gila River Arena and the City of Glendale to determine seating capacity for each month of the 2021 NHL season.

In addition to the limited seating capacity, Arizona has implemented fully digital ticketing, cashless transactions, pre-paid touchless parking and the installation of sanitizer stations throughout Gila River Arena.

Fans and arena employees will be required to wear a mask when not eating or drinking. Smoking will not be allowed outside on the patios.
