Kyler Murray fancies himself a serious gamer, and now the Arizona Cardinals quarterback will have a chance to show it on a national stage.
Murray will lead a group of four players in the first-ever NFL Pro Bowl played virtually on Madden NFL 21.
EA Sports revealed on Monday that the Cardinals’ second-year quarterback will join Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams, long-time NFL running back Marshawn Lynch and NASCAR’s Bubba Wallace on the NFC West team.
That foursome will split duties by quarter and face off against an AFC squad of Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry, former NFL receiver Keyshawn Johnson and rapper Snoop Dogg.

The game will stream live at 3 p.m. MST on Sunday over the EA Madden NFL Twitch channel, plus the league’s YouTube, Twitter and Facebook platforms. It will then air on television at 6 p.m. on NFL Network on Sunday and 10:30 a.m. next Monday.
Murray is one of three Arizona players voted as Pro Bowlers this year, joining receiver DeAndre Hopkins and safety Budda Baker. They will be represented on the virtual rosters after the in-person Pro Bowl was scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Which player Murray will square off against during his quarter of play remains to be seen.
Watson, a peer, would perhaps spark conversation about what it’s like throwing to Hopkins. Johnson could light a fire in Murray after the ESPN commentator was down on the Cardinals enough for the former wideout to bet against Arizona reaching eight wins this year — he lost that wager to Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro.
And then there’s Snoop Dogg, who in the press release for the Madden NFL 21 Pro Bowl provided some mild bulletin board material for Murray’s NFC squad.
“We’ll be taking the Pro Bowl to the virtual world of Madden this weekend and I can’t wait to do it big with football fans in my favorite game,” Snoop Dogg said in the release. “I’m a Madden NFL star. So Kyler and Marshawn better watch out — my team is comin’ in to win that championship title for the AFC.”
